Working with ink, wash, paint and graphite, Juliana Wang enjoys drawing layers and piecing them together in a final digital format.

She creates jarring compositions, by collaging unlikely elements together to create surreal scenes in her work, whether that be figureheads peeping out of rocks, to resilient character’s gorging away, nestled in beards and stomachs, or floating within a forest.

She is drawn to creating exciting marks in her work that reflect a lively energy, and likes mixing flat bold shapes from a digital hand with more unexpected marks made by ink and wash.
