Shae DeTar

Shae DeTar lives and works in NYC

Shae DeTar creates otherworldly photographic prints, taking her subjects out of reality and placing them within her ethereal world.  Combining experimentation and bold uses of color to capture the female form in idyllic and sometimes surreal landscapes, DeTar  adds layers of paint to exaggerate color, create texture, and add elements of fantasy to the work.

DeTar, who grew up between Pennsylvania and New York City and is meticulous about creating her world has also photographed for The New Yorker, NY Magazine and most recently a cover and editorial for NY Magazine’s winter 2016 issue.  DeTar has been commissioned by fashion brands Aritzia, Cosabella, Free People, Alice & Olivia and Ballet Beautiful.  Her work has appeared in several art magazines and specialized art books internationally.  She has participated in multiple group shows in New York City, Paris and London and has her first solo show in NYC Fall 2016.
