Finn Campbell-Notman

Finn Campbell-Notman was born in London and is currently living and working in Barcelona.

Born in London, Finn grew up in rural England. He has lived and worked in San Francisco, Bruxelles, Andalusia and Barcelona. Studied Fine Art at Wolverhampton and at Bristol (to 1993). Founder Imperial Dub Recordings, San Francisco (95-98) First Class B.A (Hons) in Illustration from Falmouth College of Art, UK. (98-01) At The Royal College of Art, London studied for his two year multi-disciplinary M.A with among others Brian Eno, John Stezaker and Andrzej Klimowski. (02-04).

A professional illustrator since 2001 he has a global profile. His exquisite draftsmanship, warm harmonic tones and balanced compositions have lead to his work being compared to the Golden Age illustrators. He has consulted on and contributed his knowledge and expertise to documentaries, academic courses, articles and publications worldwide. His research into aesthetic and academic theory and practice over the full spectrum of culture results in work both rich in history and beauty yet keenly addressed to the contemporary world and always of a singular voice.

As a freelance consultant with Pulse Brands for Rumaila Oil, Iraq he completed a comprehensive survey of the vernacular architecture, society, history, environment and culture of the region. Drawn from his research recommendations have been taken up by both Rumaila Oil Operation for the development of the built environment and toward the long term planning for the Basra region of southern Iraq as a whole (2011/13)

Recently, he designed the interior of and provided a comprehensive branding package for Albar Restaurant in Andalusia. (2013) Published his eighth book with The Folio Society, London: ‘The Tiger in the Smoke’ by Margery Allingham (2013) Solo exhibitions of the series Anima Animal Animus in Bruxelles (2012/13) and Barcelona (2013/14).

Recently:
November 2014 – November 2015: Completed the series entitled ‘The Immigrants’ while resident artist at Barranco De La Abuela, Andalusia:
Creative Director for Albar Group and designed the interiors of La Casona Hostal Rural, Albar Gallery the Albar Restaurant and created a comprehensive branding for the group (2013-15)
Published his eighth book with The Folio Society, London: ‘The Tiger in the Smoke’ by Margery Allingham (2013)
Solo exhibitions of the series of large scale oils: ‘Anima Animal Animus’ in Bruxelles (2012/13) and Barcelona (2013/14)
