Daniel Becker will present two ideas for shelving systems, which originated in a close aesthetic relationship to his latest lighting designs. Becker attempts to design sustainable pieces, that means in the first instance durable products with long life-cycles. For him, durability means not only flawless functioning but especially an emotional durability, which is most difficult to create.
Respected pieces though are those which will be preserved by the user. If every product had the ability to outlast for more than one generation, this would already have a huge impact on the contemporary consumer society, which is the most desirable goal, he says.

Emily. Series of pendant lights | Painted sheet steel, oak wood, plexiglas | 320€
Emily is a series of pendant lights with shades made of sheet steel, which are covered with frosted plexiglass for diffuse illumination. The aesthetics of the lamp emerged as with "Edda" through the examination with manual metal processing methods. A central aspect of the design is to achieve a long life-span and therefore sustainability. The use of materials that age gracefully underline Emily's special character.
Edda Table light 2009 | 43 x 44 x 26 cm | 550€
